Pregnant Woman Exercising

At Kinex Health, we provides confidential, evidence-based treatment every stage of a          woman's life, focusing on pelvic health, prenatal, and postpartum wellness

Our Women’s Health and Incontinence Physiotherapy service is designed to support individuals through all stages of life. Whether you are navigating the physical demands of pregnancy, recovering postpartum, or managing the hormonal transitions of menopause, we provide specialised treatment for pelvic health, pregnancy-related pain, and bone density management.

At Kinex Health, we recognise that a woman's body goes through unique physiological transformations. We go beyond pelvic floor rehabilitation to address the 'whole woman.'

Our goal is to keep you strong, pain-free, and active through every hormonal milestone.

What We Treat

(Urinary leakage, urgency, frequency, or difficulty emptying)

  •   Pelvic floor dysfunction

(Weakness, overactivity, or poor coordination of pelvic muscles)

(Including pain during menstruation or chronic pelvic pain)

  •  Pregnancy-related changes and discomfort

(Back pain, pelvic girdle pain, postural issues)

(Assessment and recovery following childbirth, including diastasis recti)

  •  Recovery after childbirth

(Helping you regain strength, confidence, and function)

The Physiology: What happens during Women's Health Therapy?

Depending on your stage of life, our therapy addresses specific biological shifts:

       Hormonal Joint Laxity

       De Quervain’s "Mother’s Thumb"

       Estrogen & Tissue Integrity (Menopause)

Intra-abdominal Pressure & The Core (Diastasis Recti)

       Neuromuscular Re-education

  • The Process: During pregnancy, the body releases a hormone called Relaxin, which softens the ligaments to prepare for birth.

  • The Result: This can lead to instability in the SI joint (sacroiliac) and lower back. Our therapy focuses on neuromuscular stabilization—using specific exercises to "brace" the joints with muscle strength where the ligaments have become too flexible.

  • The Process: Repetitive lifting of a newborn and hormonal fluid retention can cause the tendons at the base of the thumb to swell.

  • The Result: We use tendon gliding exercises and manual therapy to reduce the friction within the tendon sheath. This restores the smooth "slide" of the thumb muscles, allowing you to lift and hold your baby without sharp pain.

  • The Process: During menopause, a drop in estrogen affects the collagen quality in your tendons and the lubrication in your joints.

  • The Result: This often manifests as "frozen shoulder" or general morning stiffness. We use progressive resistance training to stimulate bone-building cells (osteoblasts) and improve muscle protein synthesis, directly countering the effects of menopause on your musculoskeletal system.

  • The Process: Pregnancy often causes the "six-pack" muscles to separate (Diastasis Recti).

  • The Result: Rather than just "doing crunches," we retrain the Transversus Abdominis (your deep internal corset). This restores the tension in the midline tissue (linea alba), supporting your organs and protecting your spine from chronic back pain.

  • The Process: Issues like incontinence or pelvic heaviness are often due to a lack of coordination between the brain and the pelvic floor.

  • The Result: We use biofeedback and specialized cues to retrain the brain to automatically engage these muscles during high-pressure moments (like coughing or jumping), restoring your confidence and freedom of movement.
